Overview of SCADA

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) is the system responsible for gathering, processing, and displaying information about the state of a monitored system. From an SCADA control center, applications and operators can oversee and change the operating state of monitored devices.

This chapter is intended to give new operators an understanding of SCADA’s basic functions and features by describing the SCADA system hardware, the SCADA software functions, and the user interface.
